Our Story
Our story: Florida Gateway Pink Crisis Fund, formally known as Tough Enough to Wear Pink, was created by Columbia County Resources, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to help cancer patients of Columbia County, FL and surrounding counties with medical expenses.
The Crisis Fund is dedicated to helping residents who live in the North Central Florida Area. Since 2009 the Crisis Fund has provided assistance to local families battling cancer in our community.
When the crisis fund was established, it was dedicated to helping residents primarily in Columbia, Suwannee and Hamilton Counties. In October of 2020 we formed a partnership with Suwannee River Breast Cancer Awareness Association; in doing that we have now opened our reach to help anyone in need in the counties that touch the Suwannee River as well as counties that touch Columbia county. (See a map of the counties we serve here)
At Florida Gateway Pink Crisis Fund, we partner with Suwannee River Breast Cancer Awareness Association to assist us with the screening process to ensure the needs are met within our community. Florida Gateway Pink Crisis Fund holds two annual events a year to raise funds for the crisis fund. With the money raised we are able to help more people fighting cancer in our area.
Events
At Florida Gateway Pink Crisis Fund, we are always looking for new ways to raise funds to help cancer patients in our community. These annual events are major fundraisers for the Crisis Fund. We rely on our community to help in participating in these events to help us raise the money. For more information on events, feel free to contact us!

How does the crisis fund work?
We pay medical bills for accepted applicants. Applicants provide us with bills or invoices, and we pay the invoice directly. Florida Gateway Pink Crisis Fund will pay for medical bills, preventative care (treatments such as colonoscopies, etc.) and prescriptions. We help people with any kind of cancer not just breast cancer.
